Major Equipment for Research Laboratories (MERL)

Program was launched in 2006 with the scope to enhance scientific infrastructure of Moldovan universities and R&D institutions, and namely to:

• provide sustainable resources to strengthen the capacities of Moldovan basic and applied research laboratories;
• encourage shared access to research equipment serving the Moldovan scientific community;
• provide new research opportunities for scientists including former weapon researchers;
• support Moldovan students in pursuing science and engineering degrees;
• improve collaborations between universities and research institutions in Moldova, US and other nations;
• strengthen the broader linkages between education and basic and applied research in Moldova.
